Epson Introduces New EX Series Projectors

Epson claims to be the number one selling brand for projectors in the world and is doing so by introducing as many new projectors as possible every year to fit every need. Recently it unveiled its EX Series of projectors with features that are not totally uncommon these days, but are priced well and more efficient than before.

The three projectors that represent this line are the EX3200, EX5200 and EX7200 each with different types of resolutions and price points. The EX3200 offers SVGA resolution, which I am surprised is still around, the EX5200 offers XGA resolution, which is still very common, and the EX7200 offers SXGA resolution, which is becoming more prominent as computers are becoming more prevalent in wide-screen. If you have bought a new computer within the last couple years I would probably steer towards the EX7200 as this is more in line with todays technology.

All models have a maximum capacity of 2600 Lumens, which is quite good and will definitely meet the needs of most small businesses and small venues and small classrooms . They also all have plug and play technology since you can simply connect a USB cable, making connections a breeze and eliminating hassles. Any other cable type takes a little longer since they are generally on the back of the machine, and can only be connected when the power is off. The USB cable is easy since you can plug in and plug out as many times as you like during a presentation, therefore multiple users can cycle through very quickly without having to search for a source, and turn off the machine or put it in stand-by. The only downside to USB connections at the moment is that they do not transfer as much information as an HDMI cable. Therefore, your resolution will not be as crisp. However, if you are picky and require full use of your resolution, all three EX series models also offer a HDMI connection.

Another great tweak which makes these machines more efficient is the 3 LCD technology used to display the images, which has become even better for energy consumption. This is the engine that converts light into the images on the screen. 3LCD now uses a quarter less energy than DLP based projectors for every lumen of brightness projected. Go Green! To conserve even more a feature that Epson calls AV Mute slide allows users turn off the image on the screen if they choose to pause during a presentation, further saving lamp life.
